At Houston Methodist, the Clinical Neuropsychologist position is responsible for providing psychological expertise for the clinical, educational and consultative aspect, specializing in the diagnostic assessment and treatment of patients with brain injury or neuro-cognitive deficits. This position performs direct patient care including assessment, evaluation and education by providing individual and group therapy and counseling.
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs clinical interviews, conducts diagnostic assessments and scores neuropsychological tests and writing reports to consider all variables that may impact treatment plans and outcomes for patients. Provides feedback to patients and family members regarding treatments and interventions.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Participates in case conferences with referring physicians and interprofessional care coordination meetings at the request of providers, patients, families or staff. Oversees neuropsychological evaluations and assessments and helps create a standardized level of care with interprofessional health care team.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Delivers neuropsychological treatment to patients in the brain injury or neuro-cognitive program. Responsible for timely documentation and communication to all members of the interprofessional care team. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Participates in business development activities to establish referral pipelines.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Helps to establish new clinical care models and treatment programs specific to brain injury or neuro-cognitive deficits. Maintains an awareness of current and changing trends, techniques, methods, and research in the field of neuropsychology and psychological therapy treatments by attending learning workshops and professional seminars, reading journals, attending in-service workshops, external conferences in area of specialty/clinical discipline, etc.
