Heavy Civil Estimator
to support our growing operations in
Albuquerque, NM . This role is critical in helping us compete for and deliver high-value projects—combining technical cost analysis with deep field knowledge and collaboration.
Successful Team Members in This Role Will… Analyze project plans, specs, and proposals to prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates Develop and submit complete bids for civil infrastructure projects (earthwork, utilities, roadways, drainage, etc.) Solicit quotes and negotiate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to align estimates with production goals and field conditions Identify risks and opportunities during pre-construction review Track historical cost data and maintain cost libraries for continuous accuracy Participate in pre-bid meetings, client calls, and scope reviews Ensure compliance with industry codes, local regulations, and safety standards Support value engineering efforts and assist with project handoffs to the operations team

A Day in the Life of a Heavy Civil Estimator: Review and interpret RFQs, bid documents, and construction drawings Perform takeoffs using estimating software and historical cost data Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to gather updated pricing Prepare bid packages, schedules of values, and internal handoff sheets Attend bid strategy meetings and provide insight on competitiveness Submit proposals and follow up with clients as needed Support project start-up by briefing operations on scope, resources, and budgets
Measurements of Success: Competitive, accurate estimates that win profitable work Timely completion and submission of bid packages High client confidence in estimate quality and communication Well-documented cost data and takeoff accuracy Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred) Minimum 5 years of experience in civil estimating for infrastructure projects Deep knowledge of construction methods, materials, and productivity rates Proficiency in tools such as
HCSS, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or HeavyBid Strong math, organization, and documentation skills Effective communicator with clients, suppliers, and internal teams Familiarity with local agency standards and public works bidding processes Based in or willing to relocate to Albuquerque, NM Monday – Friday: 7 AM – 5 PM Saturday & Sunday: Closed Arizona
