Overview

The City is seeking a skilled and motivated Emergency Management Coordinator to support emergency management initiatives. This role is responsible for coordinating emergency preparedness efforts, managing budgets and resources, and serving as a key liaison with local, state, federal, and Homeland Security partners. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to help ensure the City’s readiness and effective response to emergencies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in developing and updating emergency management policies and procedures in conjunction with Department, City, local, state, federal, and EMS system guidelines. Develop and manage annual budget for area of responsibility. Coordinate the purchasing and in-servicing of related equipment and supplies. Serves as a liaison on behalf of the Department with external stakeholders including Homeland Security partners and others identified by the Fire Chief. When requested, provide assistance to on-scene Commanders during fire/rescue/EMS incidents. Functions as the Emergency Operations Center Coordinator and supports emergency operations center activities. Assists with the maintenance, revisions, and implementation of the City’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) along with other compliance recordkeeping. Coordinates the Department’s Emergency Management volunteer program. Assist with training activities and exercises associated with Homeland Security/Emergency Management. Schedule

Approximately 15 hours per week 8:00am - 5:00pm Flexible on which days Qualifications

Education and Experience At least five (5) years of emergency management and/or emergency operations experience (any of the following: fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, public/private safety, risk management, disaster planning). A minimum of an Associate’s degree or sixty (60) hours from an accredited college or university. Perform the duties of a Paramedic. Valid Illinois Driver's License is required and must be maintained. National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications. User level knowledge of database software and Microsoft Office applications.
