Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Endoscopy Technician assists the licensed professional staff in the Endoscopy/Special Procedures area of the Ambulatory Procedures Center (APC). The Endoscopy Technician assures that there are always appropriate and adequate instruments, equipment and disposable supplies on hand in the minor procedure and endoscopy rooms. Initiates procedures to assure that equipment is disinfected/sterilized and in good working order. Assists nursing staff in providing direct patient care, vital signs, patient transport & clerical duties. Required Job Specific Competencies

Demonstrates skill in assisting professional staff in APC procedures. Maintains and obtains the necessary equipment and instruments. Demonstrates knowledge of infection control & universal precautions. Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive info including but not limited to patients, staff and the health system. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient. Working Conditions/Hazards/Equipment & Machinery Used

Walks, stands for long periods. Must be able to lift, push and pull heavy weights during patient care. Rooms are well lit but lights are frequently dimmed during procedures. May be subject to temperature variable when accompanying patients to discharge areas. Frequently exposed to disagreeable odors, sights, sounds, body wastes, blood, hazardous materials, etc. Exposed to emotional stresses associated with care of the ill and dying. May be required to work overtime during emergency cases and be available for ON-call coverage of the unit. May be asked to work variable shifts to facilitate APC and Endoscopy scheduling. Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent required. BLS certification required. Nurse Aide certificate preferred. One year experience in bedside or perioperative care in a long-term or acute health facility, or in Sterile Reprocessing. Pay Range:

$18.64 - $21.50 Starting Pay:
