Mechanical Design Engineer Newcastle
Wolviston Management Services are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support innovative design and development projects within a leading engineering environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with a strong background in mechanical design and a passion for creating high-quality, technically robust solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
Designing and developing mechanical parts, assemblies and machinery used across a range of engineering applications.
Producing high-quality 3D and 2D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings using
SolidWorks
and/or similar
3D CAD software .
Supporting product development through all stages—from concept and prototyping through to production release.
Undertaking design calculations, tolerance analysis and materials selection to ensure reliability, performance and compliance with engineering standards.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams including electrical, production and service engineers to ensure seamless integration of designs.
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting innovation within the design function.
(Desirable) Utilising
3D printing technologies
for prototype creation, design validation and development testing.
What We're Looking For
HNC/HND
(or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Proven experience in the mechanical design of machinery, equipment or precision-engineered parts.
Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D CAD platforms.
Knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of design projects.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach.
Experience with 3D printing or rapid prototyping is advantageous but not essential.
