Overview Under the general direction of the Lockshop Manager, the security technician maintains, services and installs door hardware, locks, electronic access control equipment and closed circuit television equipment. As part of the Lockshop team, the technician also maintains the Institutes mechanical hardware, repairing and replacing hardware and cutting keys as needed. The technician completes work orders and preventive maintenance orders as assigned while delivering a high level of customer service. This position is under the IUOE local 877 bargaining agreement. A technician holding a Massachusetts low voltage license is compensated at a grade 98 category and a non-license holder is compensated at the grade 97 category.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot, service, maintain and repair Integrated Security System field devices, including card readers, door position switches, magnetic locks, electric strikes, electric lock sets, electronic push-to-exit devices, Voice Video Intercom/Remote Release devices, emergency (panic button) alarms, control panels and other equipment. Experience with CCURE access control systems is preferred.

Install, troubleshoot, service, maintain and repair closed circuit camera installations. This includes conventional analog fixed and PTZ cameras, IP based video encoders, IP based fixed and PTZ cameras. The candidate should have experience with digital video management systems. Experience with Victor, VideoEdge and Exacq systems preferred.

Install, troubleshoot, service, maintain and repair mechanical door hardware including mortise locks, cylindrical locks, door closers, operators, hinges and other hardware. Occasionally cut keys and install cores as needed.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent

Vocational/Technical training in electrical, security, or computer systems preferred

Minimum of three years experience installing and maintaining physical security hardware and systems

Ability to obtain Security technician license

Must possess a valid drivers license

Must submit to and pass an initial and regular criminal background screening
