Support firmware development for next-generation IoT sensors in freight rail. Develop low-power management strategies to extend device lifespan in remote, battery-powered environments. Integrate and optimize wireless protocols like LoRa and BLE for reliable, long-range, low-energy communication. Design filtering solutions to improve signal quality in noisy industrial conditions. Establish best practices for firmware development, testing, and documentation. Debug system-level issues and optimize hardware-firmware performance. Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to the company’s technical roadmap in IoT and sensor systems. Qualifications include: 5+ years of firmware development experience for embedded systems, especially IoT or sensors. Experience with low-power management in energy-constrained devices. Proficiency with LoRa and BLE protocols, including customization and performance tuning. Understanding of vibration analysis and signal processing for predictive maintenance. Proficiency in C/C++ on platforms like ARM Cortex-M, RTOS, or bare-metal; Zephyr RTOS experience is a plus. Ability to lead projects from concept to production in resource-limited settings. Strong debugging skills with tools like oscilloscopes and JTAG debuggers. Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholders. This position is located in Austin, TX.
