Job Description
Posted Friday, September 5, 2025 at 4:00 AM The position of Structural Welder will be responsible for the assembly, weld and inspection of various fabricated assemblies and subassemblies. Responsibilities include measuring, layout, welding, grinding, and inspection. Essential qualifications for this position include: Previous welding set-up and operation experience required Understand mechanical/welding blueprints and welding symbols Ability to read a tape measure Possess basic shop math skills for decimals and fractions Able to produce high quality welds The candidate must pass the D1.1 welding test administered by Hobart during the probation period. This certification is required to retain the position. If unable to pass the test during the trial period, the candidate will be assigned to their previous position with their previous wage. Ability to use hand tools and hand grinders as required Ability to setup, run, and follow instructions for the spot welder and stud welder Welding equipment maintenance: changing tips, grinding wheels, nozzles, diffusers, liners, hooking up filler metal, etc. Know how to use welding fixtures and positioners Can handle and change out gas bottles on welders and oxy-acetylene torch Ability to work in a hot environment, while wearing full-length pants and long sleeve shirts that are part of the welding uniform and safety equipment Must be proficient in the following weld disciplines: TIG & MIG (Including, but not limited to Pulse, Spray, Flux Core, Short Circuit) Non-essential qualifications for this position include: Follow BOM’s and process specifications Ability to life and handle up to 40 lbs Able to use overhead power cranes Is a certified forklift operator Is safety orientated and follows shop rules If not progressing as expected, the candidate may be returned to their previous wage any time during the probation period Willingness to work in changing lean environments Able to read and follow work instructions and standard work DPG provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all associates and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
