Overview
Under general supervision and reporting to Quality Management in Quality Operations, the Quality Inspector is responsible for performing visual inspection operations including in-process, final inspection, and First Article Inspections (FAI) as appropriate. The Quality Inspector must be familiar with hand tools and inspection under magnification. The Quality Inspector will also assist in verification of test data and all other applicable data concerning components, and associated documentation and other duties identified by cognizant management. Experienced quality individual in dimensional inspection of aerospace machined components Experience in performing FAI’s – AS9102 Experience with hand measurement tools Knowledge of CMM inspection process Knowledge and experience in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Knowledge and experience with blueprint interpretation Perform final inspection and receiving inspection (which includes dimensional, visual inspection, surface finish, and assembly inspection) Reads, interprets, and utilizes quality policies, procedures, blueprints, and other documentation Process warehouse materials Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines/procedures to perform the functions of the job Support positive corrective actions and identification of root cause Other duties as assigned Required Skills
Experienced quality individual in dimensional inspection of aerospace machined components Experience in performing FAI’s – AS9102 Experience with hand measurement tools MS Outlook and Excel experience Experience with hand measurement gauges, conduct conventional inspection to engineering requirements Knowledge and experience in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Knowledge and experience with blueprint interpretation Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required Additional Desired Skills
Prior practical experience and implementation of quality inspection tools and equipment Experience in RCCA and problem solving General Requirements
Ability to handle complex situations and solve complex problems Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines Ability to parse and analyze technical and business information Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills (verbal and written), ability to interact via telephone and email with co-workers Ability to remain seated for extended periods Fluent English – reading and writing is required Professionalism, integrity, and exceptional attention to detail Strong independent decision-making skills; excellent analytical skills and professional judgment Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives Must be detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated Additional Qualifications (Preferred)
3+ years’ experience as a quality inspector or technician 3+ years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing facility 3+ years’ experience in inspection duties, FAI’s, GD&T, and blueprint interpretation Proficient with Microsoft Office products Effective communication skills Detail oriented Any combination of education and experience may be considered The General Vision Acuity Test shall be performed by a qualified professional. Requirements include near and far vision, color perception, and related criteria as applicable. Working Conditions
Productivity: Incumbents must perform work efficiently and effectively with minimal direction. Mobility: May involve light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods. Vision: Sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and observe behavior of others. Environment: Typical office conditions, interaction with Quality Management and SMS teams, and external customers. Hours: Generally Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; occasional extended hours and weekend overtime may be required. Physical: Use of hands and fingers to handle objects; occasional standing, walking (approximately 1–2 miles daily), sitting, reaching, climbing or balancing, and stooping or crouching. May drive to suppliers. Lifting up to 20 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment. Noise level is usually moderate to high. Benefits
