Amazon Web Services is seeking a Jr. Electrical Engineer to become part of a global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint. Engineers at Amazon design resilient, cost‑effective electrical distribution systems and drive world class uptime for our customers. They communicate technical decisions to senior management and work to drive continuous advancements and improvements in our designs. This position is based in Seattle, WA with travel to data centers in Oregon, Ohio, and other AMER locations as needed. Key responsibilities Responsibilities

Under the direction of a senior engineer, contribute to data center electrical designs and collaborate with other disciplines to create a construction document set. Create designs that meet or exceed quality requirements within budgetary constraints. Work with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes. Review and approve equipment submittals. Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests before and during construction. Collaborate with commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems. Manage concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions. Travel to sites for site reviews, work with on‑site field engineers, and provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup support as needed. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or 6+ years of relevant electrical experience. 2+ years of experience with industrial or commercial electrical design. 2+ years of experience developing design documentation (plans, specifications, etc.) for construction and/or permitting. Preferred Qualifications

1+ year of experience directly related to data center or mission critical facility design; experience with large-scale technical operations or compute farms. Understanding of uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, and other mission critical electrical equipment. Experience with fast-track design/build projects or multiple significant upgrade projects. Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities; willingness to think creatively to reduce costs without compromising quality, reliability, or maintainability. Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA; understanding of National Electrical Code requirements.
