Reporting to the Financial Aid Compliance Officer, the primary responsibilities of the Assistant Director of FA Training include improving the overall knowledge as well as enhancing ongoing learning within the FA team. The position will be responsible for new hire onboarding, ongoing financial aid staff training, and quality assurance observations and evaluations. The position will partner with the financial aid leadership team to develop FA training programs and determine developmental needs to drive training initiatives and solutions for FA staff that focus on compliance, efficiency, and customer service. Education and Experience

Three (3) plus years of financial aid experience and/or staff training experience required. Experience in regulatory staff training preferred. Skills and Knowledge

Must have a passion for excellent customer service and student success. Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs and regulations is essential. Experience analyzing and awarding financial aid in compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations and policies. Excellent training/teaching skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills with the ability to lead, influence, and inspire colleagues and cross-functional teams. An ability to understand the importance of financial aid in recruitment and retention to achieve the strategic goals of the University. Working knowledge of a variety of computer software systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Understanding of computerized information systems (preferable Oracle/PeopleSoft) and imaging systems. Ability to work independently; organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment; coordinate and monitor complex projects and activities. Must be able to work well with all levels of employees, be flexible in nature, have sound judgement with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization. Must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development. Responsibilities

Develop annual continuing staff training plans for each position type in the office utilizing FSA, NASFAA, College Board, LinkedIn Learning, university, and other professional sources. Collaborate with management on employees’ progress through the plan during the year and ensure that these trainings are represented in each employees’ Performance Partnership Review. Develop First Year Training Plan for each position type in the office utilizing FSA, NASFAA, College Board, LinkedIn Learning, university, and other professional sources. Collaborate with management on employees’ progress through the plan during their first year in a position. Work in collaboration with management and new staff on employees’ progress through the 30/60/90 plans and provide additional resources if needed. Develop, manage, and evaluate First Week Onboarding training plan for new staff. Assist Compliance Officer in developing, conducting and evaluating regularly scheduled financial aid compliance training programs and materials such as financial aid fundamentals, changes to federal and state regulations, and changes to or reminders/refreshers of office procedure. Assist Compliance Officer in conducting regular assessment activities to ensure mastery of required knowledge and skills for existing and new staff. This includes quality control reviews on R2T4s and Verification. Work in collaboration with management to address individual staff deficiencies and work with the employee individually to improve productivity. Develop and deliver customer service training to support contact strategies for FA counselors. Conduct secondary oversight of the initial verification process completed by the Needs Analysis/Application Review team. Leverage insights gathered during the review to develop targeted training programs for staff and to support internal audit activities within the area. Assist Compliance Officer in evaluating and updating the Financial Aid Online Resource Manual (Policy and Procedures Manual) to ensure that Title IV compliance requirements are represented, accurate, and tied directly to procedure. Update and manage Online Resource Manual to ensure that procedures are clear, concise, and understandable to a variety of staff at various levels. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements
