California Animal Rehabilitation (CARE) is an integrative, holistic animal rehabilitation clinic housed in an 8,000 sq. ft. facility in west Los Angeles. We see mostly dogs, some cats, and the rare exotic small animal. Our facility offers rehabilitation, orthotic and cart fittings, preventative fitness, boarding, and grooming in-house. Our treatment model pairs Doctors of Physical Therapy certified in canine rehabilitation with veterinarians certified in acupuncture and canine rehabilitation. Case mix described as: 40% neurological, 40% orthopedic, 20% miscellaneous other Geriatric patients account for approximately 75% of cases Approximately 50 patients seen per day Externship Responsibilities and Experience

The extern will be responsible for active attention and intellectual participation during observation of the full range of CARE's services. While externs cannot treat patients, CARE provides hands-on experience within that parameter. The extern observes the full range of therapeutic services at CARE and observes multiple CCRTs during the externship Hands-on experience includes demonstrating proficiency in skills observed during the externship (not treating patients) With a Doctor of Physical Therapy, externs may demonstrate stretches/ROM/manipulations observed during sessions Program Details

Your schedule will be arranged around your individual externship goals to ensure observation of the full range of therapeutic services Hands-on demonstrations are performed by the extern under supervision and do not constitute treating patients A unique aspect of CARE’s model is pairing a Doctor of Physical Therapy with CCRT veterinarians to produce comprehensive results Treatment Modalities

Treatment modalities employed include acupuncture, animal physical rehabilitation, underwater treadmill, pool swims, cold laser, red laser, ultrasound, pulsed signal therapy, tPEMF, acupuncture (listed again to reflect coverage), western and Chinese herbology, homeopathy, electrical stimulation, massage, and related modalities.
