Position Summary
The Clinical Supervisor (General Surgery Telemetry) is responsible for providing leadership, support, and coordination for daily clinical operations within the Med/Surg Telemetry unit. This role ensures safe, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care delivery while fostering professional growth and engagement among nursing staff. The Clinical Supervisor serves as a role model and mentor, actively supporting the hospital’s academic and teaching mission. Unit Overview
Our General Surgery Telemetry unit provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions that require cardiac monitoring. The team is highly collaborative and dedicated to clinical excellence, patient safety, and innovation in care delivery. Nurses on this unit gain valuable experience managing diverse patient populations, utilizing advanced monitoring systems, and coordinating complex care plans. Main Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operations of the Med/Surg Telemetry unit. Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to ensure adequate staffing, effective workflows, and adherence to evidence-based practices. Act as a mentor and resource to staff, fostering ongoing professional development. Monitor patient care outcomes and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Support implementation of hospital policies, regulatory compliance, and safety standards. Facilitate communication among staff, physicians, patients, and families. Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Current RN license in the District of Columbia (or eligibility before start date) Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Med/Surg or Telemetry Demonstrated leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience Preferred: Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare, or related field Professional certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing (CMSRN) or Progressive Care (PCCN) Previous experience in an academic or teaching hospital setting About Universal Health Services
