We are seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our In-Patient Transplant Surgery team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. The MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute is one of the largest liver transplant centers in the nation, performing over 100 transplants annually. We are known for transplanting patients faster than any other center in the region.
Job Duties
Provide and coordinate clinical care for patients pre- and post-kidney, liver, pancreas, and intestinal transplants, as well as Hepatobiliary surgery, for patients followed by the Transplant Surgery service. Conduct patient assessments, perform evaluations, prescribe medications, obtain H&Ps, order and review diagnostic tests, formulate treatment plans, write progress notes, and educate patients and their families. Collaborate with attending physicians and a multidisciplinary team to round daily on patients, assess, diagnose, plan treatment, set priorities, and evaluate treatment effectiveness. Manage post-operative stabilization and care, including discharge planning and collaborative care. Coordinate discharge planning with case managers and social workers. This position is inpatient-only, requiring (2) 12-hour shifts per 4-week period. Why Choose Transplant at Georgetown?
