Job Summary Position is located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Under the Design Manager’s guidance, the Fire Sprinkler Design Trainee will support the development of NFPA-compliant fire sprinkler shop drawings using AutoCAD and AutoSprink software. The role focuses on learning to select system components, conduct hazard analysis, understand fluid hydraulics, interpret code requirements, and apply fire protection installation standards. The trainee will help survey existing systems, prepare drawings, create material lists, and perform field surveys to ensure effective installations. The ideal candidate is a proactive, team-oriented individual with a professional demeanor.
Responsibilities
Assist in creating fire protection design drawings and hydraulic calculations for commercial and residential projects, adhering to codes, budgets, and timelines.
Perform precise on-site surveys of existing fire sprinkler systems.
Design systems for maximum efficiency and cost savings.
Learn to execute and validate hydraulic calculations using AutoSprink VR.
Learn to generate and verify stock lists for fabrication with AutoSprink VR.
Obtain plans and details from General Contractors and Architects.
Requirements
Mechanical and mathematical aptitude with strong desire to excel.
Familiarity with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans, along with building construction, is required.
Proven AutoCAD 2020 or higher proficiency and ability to learn new software.
Continue to expand knowledge in the field of fire protection by on-the-job training, remote and on-site classes, and self-direction.
Demonstrated competency in verbal and written business communication skills.
Strong work ethic and professional appearance.
Collaborative mindset with a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Ability to travel within and beyond Charlotte.
Possess a valid driver’s license and meet company driving requirements.
Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
