Geotechnical Engineer
to join our collaborative and highly skilled team in Portland, OR. At Apex, you’ll work alongside a dedicated group of geotechnical engineers, geologists, and multi-discipline professionals on projects that vary in size and complexity, each making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. This role offers significant room for professional growth, mentorship, and the ability to shape solutions for a diverse portfolio of civil infrastructure and development projects. Apex has an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer. The position is ideal for a motivated individual looking to excel professionally. Team players and client-focused individuals who are comfortable and capable of practicing as a professional leader with strong client communication skills will be considered. The successful candidate will work closely with a dedicated group of senior professional geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, environmental hydrogeologists and geologists, and a multi-discipline team of civil, transportation, water resources, and structural engineers. Your Responsibilities as a Geotechnical Engineer
Planning, accomplishing, and leading site characterization programs for challenging projects Completing geotechnical engineering analyses for site development, buildings, bridges, landslides and roads Managing, mentoring, and training field staff to ensure quality data collection, technical growth, and adherence to safety and project standards Collaborating closely with civil, structural, and environmental teams to develop integrated, multi-disciplinary solutions for clients Develop a professional presence in our regional community through participation in professional organizations, interaction with key clients, and client development Qualifications
B.S. Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis M.S. Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis (preferred) 6+ years professional geotechnical engineering experience Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with ability to obtain Washington licensure within 12 months Be results-oriented, flexible, and creative Experience with soil and rock classification, field exploration procedures and methods, earthwork and pavement construction observation, nuclear density testing, and laboratory testing procedures Why you'll love working for us
