We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Supplier Quality Engineer to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality procedures in alignment with IATF 16949 standards. This role ensures that suppliers meet established quality requirements and customer expectations through effective coordination of APQP activities, supplier audits, and process improvements.
Position Responsibilities APQP Coordination
Participate in and coordinate internal APQP activities, including schedules and status reports.
Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, and Purchasing to ensure compliance with customer and internal requirements.
Supplier Quality Management
Coordinate supplier PPAP submissions per company and customer standards.
Maintain supplier PPAP files and submission status reports.
Monitor supplier corrective actions, conduct follow-ups, and perform supplier visits as needed.
Maintain supplier history reports and quality performance data.
Inspection and Compliance Support
Assist with receiving inspection sampling plans based on part histories.
Support Receiving Inspection with QPR issuance, supplier contact, and follow-up.
Coordinate sorting, rework, returns, and applicable chargebacks to suppliers.
Maintain inspection instructions per Control Plan requirements.
Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement
Participate in corrective action activities and support the company’s Corrective Action System (CAS).
Conduct potential and capability studies as required.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance and product quality.
Reporting and Communication
Prepare monthly activity and status reports.
Communicate supplier quality issues and updates to relevant departments.
Provide supplier support as needed to ensure timely resolution of concerns.
Prerequisites
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of automotive industry experience.
Familiarity with IATF 16949 Quality System requirements.
Strong problem-solving and reporting experience (8-D, PR/R, QR).
Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and metrology tools (CMM, gage calibration, etc.).
Knowledge of internal or external system auditing and advanced quality planning.
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Self-motivated and team-oriented with the ability to travel as needed.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field
