Aerospace Metals Joining Technician sought for aerospace manufacturing sector. The candidate will have hands-on expertise in welding, brazing, and heat treatment, able to work independently on complex joining tasks while adhering to industry standards and safety protocols. Perform layout, setup, and welding on aircraft engine components and assemblies using instructions, prints, or sketches. Achieve required welder qualifications for joining processes, including manual, semi-automatic, and automated welding. Fabricate, repair, or rework parts using GTAW, GMAW, PAW, brazing, robotic welding, and more. Program and operate welding systems, apply distortion control methods, and use grinders, files, and measuring equipment for preparation and restoration. Perform basic machining and cutting tasks, inspect welds visually, and understand NDE processes like FPI and x-ray. Collaborate with engineering, shops, and suppliers, document procedures, and ensure quality and efficiency. Train and qualify welders to meet aerospace standards. Perform other related duties as needed. Perform metals joining tasks on aerospace components using techniques like TIG welding, brazing, and heat treatment. Work closely with others to plan and complete joining tasks by interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders to choose the right methods and materials. Inspect and test joined components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Operate and maintain welding and joining equipment, keeping it in good condition and properly calibrated. Collaborate with engineers and quality teams to solve joining issues, suggest process improvements, and recommend solutions. Accurately document joining processes, including materials used, techniques applied, and inspections performed. Follow safety rules and best practices to ensure a safe work environment, identifying and addressing risks proactively. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by sharing ideas, trying new methods, and using problem-solving skills and technical knowledge. Qualifications
Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment. Capability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas. Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for precise welding and joining tasks. Desired Qualification & Skills
Proficiency in various welding techniques, particularly TIG welding, and familiarity with brazing and heat treatment. Strong understanding of aerospace materials, such as stainless steel, inconel, titanium, and other alloys. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety standards. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
