A Brief Overview
The Clinical Informatics Pharmacist (CI Pharmacist) specializes in the use of technology to optimize all aspects of the medication use process across the healthcare system. Responsibilities include the effective design, development, implementation, and maintenance of medication related components of the electronic medical record (EMR) and clinical decision support tools. This role supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other clinicians as the resource for requests related to EMR changes and additions. The CI Pharmacist collaborates with patient care, departmental leadership, Quality, Patient Safety, and Information Systems staff on the clarification, feasibility, prioritization, design, and execution of changes to the EMR.
Education Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy. Required or* Doctorate PharmD RequiredExperience Qualifications* Previous clinical informatics experience. Preferred* Completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency or 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience. PreferredSkills and Abilities* Computer skills (proficiency with Excel). (Required proficiency)* Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. (Required proficiency)* Critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. (Required proficiency)* Ability to function independently and as a team player in a multi-hospital system. (Required proficiency)Licenses and Certifications* Pharmacist - KBP Required within 60 days of hire. Required* Support for some vendor applications requires formal certification. For positions that primarily support Epic applications, vendor certification is required within 4 months of the last date of training for a given certification track; if certification is not achieved within this timeframe employee will voluntarily resign from this position.
