Summary

West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System's Critical Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician (Critical Care) - Chief Physician (Critical Care). Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. You must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens. Degree of doctor of medicine or osteopathic medicine from an approved school. Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the US. Residency Training: Completed residency approved by the VA or equivalent, leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies include those by ACGME, AOA, or other recognized programs with verified practice in the US. Residents in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed physicians but are not considered independent practitioners. Board Certified in Critical Care or Pulmonary. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical, capable of moderate lifting, reaching, using fingers, hands, legs, and able to stand and hear whisper. Duties

Eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), with application required within four months of appointment. Participate in the VHA Physician Total Rewards program, including possible recruitment incentives and student loan repayment. Perform procedures such as central line placement, intubation, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, and others. Evaluate ICU patients, perform and document consultations, and write orders for optimal care. Conduct daily rounds, coordinate diagnostic and treatment plans, and perform procedures within privileges. Involved in teaching residents and students, and participate in educational programs and committee meetings. Develop and update ICU policies, participate in quality assurance, and serve as a role model. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with possible shift variations based on needs.
