AVES is seeking an experienced or internship-trained veterinarian who is self-motivated, with excellent multi-tasking skills, and can contribute to our high standard of patient care, client service, and comprehensive communication. The eligible applicant should lead by example and maintain a professional demeanor and contribute positively to the AVES culture. The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to grow professionally with the hospital and sustain strong relationships with referring colleagues, clients, and support staff. This is a unique opportunity to work with a team of top-notch emergency doctors and specialists in a rapidly growing emergency and specialty practice.
Our Facility & Culture AVES is a progressive, fast-paced multi-disciplinary hospital that was established in 2014 and has had exponential growth since inception. AVES is locally managed by one of the original founders, Lindsay Vaughn, DVM, DACVECC and joined the NVA-Compassion First Network in 2021 to accelerate their growth and network with other best-in-class specialty and emergency hospitals. We are now excited to be a part of Ethos Veterinary Health. AVES offers numerous specialty services including Internal Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Surgery, Neurology, Critical Care, Medical Oncology, and Diagnostic Imaging. We partner with CVCA Cardiac Care for Pets to provide Cardiology services to our hospitalized patients.
Facility & Capabilities Our facility offers ultrasound, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, x-ray, and high-flow oxygen, allowing us to provide gold standard medical care. In 2025, AVES will move to a new state-of-the-art facility of approximately 45,000 square feet with additional services planned. We are excited to continue to grow our hospital with you!
Responsibilities
Receive triages and facilitate treatment plans for both outpatients and inpatients.
Continue care for specialty patients that are currently hospitalized.
Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests.
Create tailored and thorough treatment plans for inpatients including medical therapies as well as next diagnostic steps.
Maintain meticulous and accurate medical records.
Provide clear and complete communication to clients including recommendations, suspected prognosis, and current clinical status of their pets.
Provide referral letters to referring veterinarians as well as taking transfer calls from referring veterinarians regarding incoming patients.
Attend morning rounds to collaborate with specialists on the currently hospitalized patients.
Contribute to a fantastic team of emergency veterinarians and maintain a positive work culture.
Requirements
DVM or VMD licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Texas.
Active DEA license.
Prior emergency experience; internship training preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
