Cabinetworks Group has an immediate opening for a Technical Process Engineer in Waconia, MN. While all qualified applicants are welcome to apply, preference will be given to candidates who currently reside in or near the Waconia, MN area. Job Summary
Seeking a senior-level engineer with 8-10 years of experience to oversee and optimize the Finishing & Coating process, ensuring high-quality finishes and meeting customer specifications. Collaborate with production and quality control teams to ensure successful execution of painting and finishing processes. Implement process improvements, conduct feasibility studies, maintain supplier relationships, and resolve issues. Principal Functional Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and improve painting/coating processes for cabinets to ensure efficiency, consistency, and quality. Lead projects to resolve manufacturing issues. Ensure products meet quality standards for finish, including color, smoothness, durability, and resistance. Inspect for defects such as uneven coats, drips, or scratches. Identify and resolve issues like paint adhesion, uneven application, or drying/curing problems. Provide solutions to reduce defects and keep production on schedule. Document all processes, materials, and quality control procedures. Maintain records of paint batches, test results, and SOP changes. Train production staff on painting techniques, equipment, and safety. Promote continuous learning and knowledge sharing. Support the specification and installation of capital equipment. Provide daily support on machine operation, troubleshooting, safety, and process improvements. Participate in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma initiatives. Willing to travel up to 10%, including internationally. Essential Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. 8-10 years of engineering experience in finishing and painting in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Expertise in surface preparation, application, and curing of cabinet finishes. Knowledge of coating systems: solvent-based, water-based, powder coatings. Skills in process optimization and quality control. Familiarity with painting equipment: spray booths, HVLP sprayers, automated systems. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and ISO 140001 systems. Work Environment
Operates in a plant environment. Physical requirements include: Ability to stand for long periods. Proficient computer use for extended periods. Physical demands include lifting up to 20 lbs regularly, occasionally up to 50 lbs. Salary Range: $80k - $95k Shift
