Job Title Postdoctoral Researcher – Cell and Developmental Biology Location Pay Range $62,400 - $70,000 Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified. Conduct independent research projects:
Design, perform, and analyze experiments in developmental and cell biology, including zebrafish model studies, molecular biology, and advanced imaging, to advance the lab’s research goals. Develop new experimental approaches:
Establish and optimize innovative methods such as live-cell imaging, biochemistry, or molecular biology to address key biological questions and generate novel insights. Collaborate and mentor:
Work closely with graduate students, undergraduates, and technical staff, providing guidance in experimental design, data analysis, and professional development to foster a collaborative and productive lab environment. Maintain scholarly productivity:
Prepare manuscripts for publication, present findings at conferences, and contribute to the dissemination of research outcomes to the broader scientific community. Laboratory organization and compliance:
Contribute to the smooth functioning of the lab by maintaining shared resources, ensuring safety and ethical standards are met, and assisting with equipment upkeep. Grant and proposal support:
Assist the principal investigator with developing research proposals and progress reports, contributing scientific expertise and preliminary data that support continued funding. Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biology, Physiology and Biophysics, Cell and Developmental Biology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. Demonstrate strong potential for excellence in research, as evidenced by a solid record of peer-reviewed publications or other significant research accomplishments. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the mentorship and training of graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory. Job Specific Qualifications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment. Strong skills in experimental design, troubleshooting, and data analysis are expected. Genuine interest in mentorship and the ability to provide guidance and training to graduate and undergraduate students working in the laboratory. Background in microscopy and/or zebrafish husbandry is considered a plus but is not required. Physical Requirements
