Position Summary The purpose of this role is to provide leadership and management of Process Safety for Huber Engineered Materials (HEM) and Huber Engineered Woods (HEW), and to provide leadership and management of Process Safety for Huber ensuring that industrial operations are conducted safely by minimizing hazards and risks associated with processes, particularly those involving hazardous materials or with process safety incident potential.
The ideal candidate will:
Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) programs for both HEM and HEW and drive PSM risk to acceptable levels.
Actively participate in risk assessments, major project teams and PSM investigations.
Participate in team efforts to develop policies, procedures, standards and technical references appropriate to the nature and scale of HEM and HEW operations and scope of the PSM function.
Establish appropriate metrics and processes to ensure objectives are obtained. (PSM metrics set by JMH Corp)
Assure timely and accurate reporting of performance metrics.
Recommend and ensure the efficient and appropriate use of internal and external technical resources.
Facilitate communication between all locations to share best practices and key learnings.
General
Provide functional leadership and guidance for PSM within both HEM and HEW.
Develop and implement programs and processes to ensure technical competency.
Establish standards and best practices to guide engineers and PSM resources.
Work with functional leaders to ensure process safety is designed into capital projects.
Work with the Platform Engineers to share Lessons Learned, Best Practices, and drive improvements in the Global PSM Program.
Implement the JMH Risk-Based Management philosophy across PSM and engineering at each plant site.
Provide expertise in the area of process safety systems, testing protocols, and risk mitigation.
Provide expertise in the area of process safety related hazard assessment and risk management including fire, explosion, toxic gas release, and chemical reactivity hazards.
Interface with insurance companies and or loss control/risk management regarding protection and mitigation systems.
Lead and/or participate in investigations involving process safety incidents including identification of root causes and corrective actions, guides manufacturing locations in the event classification.
Compile monthly metrics and prepare monthly reports.
Support the PSM global training plan when required at various global locations.
Maintains process safety related documents, templates, updates risk reduction factors for the IPL (Independent Layers of Protection).
People
Make recommendations to Safety and Sustainability Leadership team in terms of sizing, relocating, developing resources and capabilities according to strategy.
Identify, lead and develop talent to support current business needs as well as succession for future.
Develop and/or assist in the development and implementation of training programs designed to enhance the skill level of sites' staff and other key personnel.
Scope of Role and Requirements
Leading teams, influencing others, and developing support without direct authority or supervision.
Managing trade-offs and priorities in accordance with the JM Huber Risk Matrix.
Communication across process technology platforms, business functions, and regional plant sites.
Manage a diversity of process unit operations in both HEM and HEW.
Multi-cultural organization.
Demonstrating tact and the ability to develop trusting relationships with other stakeholders.
Dealing with current PSM issues while staying abreast of new regulations, corporate guidelines, trends and emerging technologies.
Decision Making Authority
Approval of capital projects including HSMS-220B Change management for Capital Projects.
Approval of PSM safeguards and interlock systems.
Approval of special project team members and new hires.
Approval of policies, procedures and standards to be adopted by HEM and HEW.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of relevant and progressive experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) within the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, or pharmaceuticals manufacturing sectors.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing or leading PSM programs across multiple sites or within a global organizational structure and knowledge in Operations, EH&S, and Reliability.
Experience with various Process Unit Operations.
Technical Expertise: Deep, practical knowledge of PSM elements, including Mechanical Integrity, Operating Procedures, Contractor Safety, P&ID review, PSSR, and PHA.
Regulatory Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of PSM regulations in major jurisdictions (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119, EPA RMP, or equivalent international standards like the EU Seveso Directive).
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Safety Engineering, or an MBA.
Professional certification such as CCPSC, CSP, or P.E.
This role can be Remote (US), or Hybrid (local Atlanta; 3 days in office, 2 days work-from-home) and may require up to 35% travel.

U.S. Market-Based Salary Range

[$119,200.00 -$160,000.00]
In addition to base compensation, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and profit-sharing payout.
