Role: We are seeking a Demand Planner Specialist who can work closely with customers to effectively manage case-ready meats delivery. This role involves logistics, procurement, inventory, and accounting functions. The person will gather, validate, and interpret data to maintain a valid and accurate demand schedule.
Responsibilities
Manage direct contact with customers and customer requests
Source, procure, and purchase raw materials
Commit inventory against sales orders
Review expiration reports to ensure FIFO consumption of raw materials
Ensure finished product is shipped using FIFO and manage excess product on sales orders
Receive orders from the buying team and customers, verify accuracy, commit to inventory, and promise delivery dates based on material availability, customer needs, and production schedules
Assist in managing inventory levels to meet customer demand while controlling costs
Help manage costs from suppliers through the Procurement system to ensure proper billing
Maintain inventory levels to support shelf-life and product freshness
Create Product Bid Sheets for raw materials based on Buyer projections
Manage demand exceptions related to out-of-compliance demand, forecast bias, and anomalies
Maximize accuracy and efficiency of the demand schedule by leveraging production efficiencies and aligning production with demand
Support Supply/Production planning through prioritizing inventory needs, new item forecasts, product phase-out, and special builds
Establish production plans and priorities based on customer requirements
Oversee logistics of customer/supplier demands
Coordinate logistics from case-ready facilities to distribution centers
Track supply chain and logistics KPIs (inventory turns, fill rates, days of inventory outstanding, costs)
Maintain and update demand forecast dates
Use ERP and other tools to analyze forecast accuracy, track trends, and mitigate material buildup or shortages
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate impact on production schedules to management
Coordinate order changes in production scheduling, shipping, and receiving
Resolve daily problems related to material rejections and production changes due to equipment issues
Qualifications
Maintains a helpful and professional attitude and appearance
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3 years in supply chain, operations, or logistics
Strong communication skills with management at all levels; customer-focused
Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, and critical thinking
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, collaborate in a team, and be flexible with schedules
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Access (A MUST)
Experience with Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)

This position is sedentary but may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, or crouching
Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversation; able to work in a noisy environment as needed
Repetitive motion: regular use of wrists, hands, and fingers
Visual abilities: include various vision capabilities as described by job duties
Physical strength: ability to lift up to 10–25 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
Working conditions: office environment with production plant exposure; may include wet, damp, cold areas and loud environments
