Overview
The
Survey Crew Chief
is responsible forperforming non-routine assignments including responsibility for planning and conducting a complete field survey or relatively limited scope or portion of a large and more diverse survey. Reviews and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts for field staking. Reviews and analyzes a variety of design data to determine requirements to meet survey objectives. Prepares layouts, estimates, procedures, etc. and may supervise another rod person (Survey Field Technician). Job Type: Full-Time Location: North Olmsted, OH Schedule: Hybrid
Performs routine to complex assignments involving planning and conducting layout and field staking of non-complex projects or portion of a complex project. May supervise rod person (Survey Field Technician) in performing field surveys. Reviews and implements designs, techniques, layouts and plans for field staking. Reviews and analyzes plans to determine survey requirements. Assists in preparing cost estimates for surveys. Must be able to work independently in the field. May serve as survey lead and direct work of other Surveying Technicians. Promotes use of and participates in development of company field survey and staking standards. Reviews data and documents to ensure compliance with the company’s survey and production standards. Assists in the education and development of survey staff and acts as a resource for questions. Keeps current on “state of the art” survey, through review of periodicals and continuing education. Maintain and adhere to QA/QC procedures/note taking and maintaining office and field project material. Minimum Qualifications
Technical or associate’s degree in applicable design disciplines from an accredited technical institution or college preferred. 2+ years related survey experience. Preferred CST certification or pursuing licensure. Proficiency with Trimble GPS, Trimble Robotic Total Station (S6/S7), Trimble (TSC7) and Trimble (TSC3) / Ranger Data Collectors. Ability to read and interpret Construction Plans. Proficient/working knowledge of some or all of the following survey field practices: construction staking, topographic data collection, boundary investigation, traversing, and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys. Experience or proficient with Civil 3d and MS Excel preferred. TAKE THE NEXT STEP
