Overview

RFIC DESIGN ENGINEER (STARSHIELD) - SpaceX Starshield leverages SpaceX’s Starlink technology and launch capability to support national security efforts. Starshield is designed for government use, with initial focus on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads. As an RFIC Design Engineer on the Starshield team, you will develop next-generation RFICs for deployment in space and ground infrastructures globally, in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where rapid design-to-operational capability is pursued. Responsibilities

Design, simulate and model RF/analog/mixed-signal circuits and systems Derive specifications for RFIC subsystems and circuits Develop analog/mixed-signal/RF/microwave circuits in SiGe, GaAs, GaN, or CMOS processes Collaborate with system architects, modem/DSP and ASIC engineers to partition functions between hardware and software Perform IC floor planning and layout Own packaging prototypes, product development, and release to production; model package and external parasitics Evaluate and characterize prototypes of the design Assist in developing automated test lab equipment for measurements Work with manufacturing engineers on production testing and qualification of RFIC components and systems Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science 1+ years of RF integrated circuit experience Preferred Skills and Experience

Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering with emphasis in RF/Analog/Mixed-signal IC design Experience with simulation tools such as Spectre, ADS, HFSS or Momentum Circuit design skills with analysis and simulation of linear and nonlinear circuits (PLL, modulators/demodulators, oscillators, mixers, filters, LNA/PA) Knowledge of digital communication systems, spread spectrum, multi-carrier techniques and modulation types (QPSK, APSK, QAM) Knowledge of RF transceiver architectures Understanding MMIC design for RF front end blocks from S-band to W-band Familiarity with radio test equipment (spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers/generators, network analyzers) Experience characterizing radio performance in microwave frequencies Additional Requirements

Ability to work long hours and weekends as needed to support milestones An active clearance may be required for work on sensitive SpaceX missions; pre-employment drug testing and random testing may apply if eligible for a classified program Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: RFIC Engineer/Level I: $120,000 - $145,000 per year RFIC Engineer/Level II: $140,000 - $170,000 per year Your level and base salary are determined on job-related knowledge, education, and experience.
