Construction Estimator needed NYC

We are a leading flooring contractor specializing in residential, commercial, and industrial flooring solutions. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team and play a key role in bidding and winning projects. Position Overview: The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, detailed estimates for flooring projects, including material takeoffs, labor, and equipment costs. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, knowledge of flooring materials and installation processes or a willingness to learn. As well as experience working in a fast-paced construction environment. Key Responsibilities: Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate flooring estimates Perform material takeoffs and calculate labor and equipment costs Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors Prepare and submit bid proposals within deadlines Collaborate with project managers, sales, and field teams to ensure estimates align with project execution Maintain historical cost data and update estimating tools as needed Identify cost-saving opportunities and potential risks within bids Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary Requirements: Proven experience as a Construction Estimator. Strong knowledge or willingness to learn about commercial and residential flooring systems (e.g., carpet, vinyl, tile, hardwood, epoxy, etc.) Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical documents Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Procore, and Building Connected ) Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strong communication and negotiation abilities Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously High school diploma required; a degree in construction management or a related field is a plus Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of estimating experience in the flooring or general construction industry Familiarity with local building codes and industry standards What We Offer: Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for career advancement and training A supportive and professional work environment
