HII Mission Technologies Division is seeking a Test Engineer 3 to work on a team executing integration efforts on the Modeling, Simulation, and Training environment at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis AFB, NV to support the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center, Joint Simulation Environment(JSE) team.
This position is part of a team that provides on-site Modeling and Simulation (M&S) support to establish and deliver high-end Advanced Tactics, Training, and Test capability for Government personnel operating under USAFWC/ACC.
What You Will Do
Perform a variety of test duties in support of 31st Combat Training Squadron’s Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) training systems located at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. Support the JSE engineering team to prioritize and execute test objectives required for operational readiness of various flight simulators and associated mission debrief systems and tools. Perform component and system-level testing on JSE software, electrical, and mechanical components to sustain JSE Man-in-the-loop (MITL) training devices with special focus on maintaining highest levels effectiveness and reliability standards. Collect, maintain, and analyze simulator system test data for reports and documentation. Recommend changes and updates to flight simulators and support equipment as required. Perform required readiness checks on flight simulation equipment and instruments. Conduct and document preventative maintenance tests and checks required for simulator and support equipment. Assist in troubleshooting, repair, and documentation of malfunctions of simulators and support equipment. Assist with installation and check-out of simulator and support equipment modifications. Work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Apply comprehensive knowledge to help solve complex problems by interpreting technical manuals or similar documents. Support simulator development and testing on Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop components. Support peer reviews of modeling and simulation models, analysis tools, and other software modules as required. Develop test methods and implement simulation software test tools, and other automated test scripts as required. Facilitate rapid resolution of identified issues that impact operations thorough communication with task leads, program management, and other leadership as required. Collaborate daily with System Administrators, Field Technicians/Engineers, and customer engineering and program management teams. Support test data analysis and develop technical briefings and deliverables to engineering teams, program manager, and government customers as required. Generate relevant test data and report to support submission of deficiency reports (DRs) to relevant SMEs to find solutions and future improvements. Perform other engineering test duties as required. What You Must Have
6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience. Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills working independently and as part of a technical team. Demonstrated strong work ethic and initiative to troubleshoot, address, and prevent problems on complex tasks and systems. Must have had an Active DOD Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months. Ability to obtain and maintain DoD TS/SCI and relevant SAP/SAR Clearance. Preferred Requirements
Experience with Man-In-The-Loop (MITL) military flight simulators is highly desired. Experience with Air Force’s 5th Generation flight training systems is highly desired. Demonstrated skills and experience with military aviation hardware and software development, integration, testing, and sustainment is highly desired. Knowledge and/or experience in a programming languages in the Red Hat Linux environments, such as C and C++, is desired. Candidates with math, science, engineering, or equivalent technical degree is desired. Knowledge and/or experience with DoD test methodologies and data analysis is desired. Physical Requirements
Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
