This role supports 24/7 real-time operations of a rapidly expanding fleet of distributed and utility-scale renewable energy assets, managing and optimizing Nexamp’s AVEVA and Ignition SCADA platforms hosted in Azure. You will be part of a team responsible for the safe, efficient, secure and compliant operation of Nexamp’s solar and energy storage systems, delivering high SCADA system availability and supporting day-to-day control room (NOC) operations. The ideal candidate will handle SCADA application support, Azure infrastructure and OS administration, contribute to infrastructure monitoring, and support NERC CIP compliance. You will collaborate with operations, Engineering and Cybersecurity to maintain a high-performance OT environment. This role is based in Nexamp’s hub offices in Boston, MA and Lawrence, MA with hybrid work arrangements. You will report to the Director, Operational Technologies. What you’ll do Manage and provide daily support for SCADA applications and data historians (e.g., Ignition, AVEVA System Platform in Azure), including software updates, troubleshooting, user support, and participation in the after-hours on-call rotation for SCADA and OT related issues. Support the deployment, configuration, programming, and ongoing maintenance of SCADA systems for Nexamp’s renewable energy portfolio, including integration with field equipment and telemetry at solar and battery sites. Maintain and optimize OT infrastructure, including Windows Server environments, virtual machines, and network configurations within Microsoft Azure, with a focus on SCADA-related services and performance. Collaborate with Nexamp’s Operations Center (NOC) to ensure continuous SCADA availability and real-time data flow, troubleshooting system-level issues such as SCADA failures, OS faults, and network communication disruptions. Design and implement monitoring solutions for infrastructure and applications, and provide hands-on support for OT equipment in data centers (servers, RTACs, routers, switches) critical to SCADA and telemetry operations. Work with Cybersecurity to implement security patching schedules and maintain secure system configurations that protect OT assets without impairing functionality. Support the achievement of corporate Key Results (KRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by driving improvements in asset uptime, responsiveness, and operational reliability. Support and document compliance activities related to NERC CIP and other relevant standards. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure reliable telemetry, data integrity, and remote control of field assets. What you’ll bring Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience is a plus. High School diploma or GED equivalence is a must have. 5+ years of experience maintaining and supporting SCADA applications and critical infrastructure in the energy or utility sector. Experience with SCADA implementation projects through design, build, and testing phases. Ability to tune applications, databases, and infrastructure parameters to enhance performance, reliability and availability. Experience managing Windows environment for Server Administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, and system hardening. Good understanding of networking principles, including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and routing in OT environments. Familiarity with NERC CIP security/compliance standards for critical infrastructure. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and database platforms; familiarity with PI System (OSIsoft) is a plus. Detail-oriented, methodical, and capable of documentation and working under changing conditions. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, real-time operations environment. Availability to work outside regular hours and participate in on-call rotation as required. Azure environment support certification (e.g., AZ-900) is a plus. Hands-on experience with AVEVA System Platform, Ignition, or similar SCADA/HMI platforms is a plus. Familiarity with Azure deployment/monitoring is a plus. Experience in creating and maintaining network architecture diagrams for OT networks is a plus. Commitment to Nexamp’s mission and passion for solving climate challenges.
