The supervisor actively engages with the customer site leader(s) and full-time field employees to ensure safety, environmental compliance, and high-quality work. The main duties are to lead and train employees in cleaning, repair and maintenance of freight cars. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday days (flexible hours).
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in the hiring process by assisting with candidate selection and evaluation. Maintain a strong focus on safety and timeliness in all repair activities. Coordinate and manage employee work schedules to meet operational demands. Perform administrative tasks related to labor tracking, material usage, and reporting. Ensure compliance with regulatory and company quality control standards throughout all work processes. Monitor production schedules and adjust workloads and staffing to meet deadlines. Implement and enforce safety protocols, promoting a culture of compliance and awareness. Identify and address hazardous conditions promptly and proactively work to reduce workplace injuries. Actively participate in and support quality improvement initiatives and responsible care programs. Train, motivate and discipline direct reports. Responsible for the quality of all work performed by the team. Inspect completed work. Complete any other duties assigned to complete the job.
Job Qualifications
Proven leadership experience in railroad operations, with a strong focus on safety and employee training. Prior experience in tank car or railcar cleaning and confined space entry preferred. Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities. Self-driven professional with a strong ability to build trust and foster team collaboration. Strong active listening skills with a focus on understanding and responding effectively. High attention to detail, essential for maintaining safety standards and delivering quality work. Welding or industrial repair experience is a plus. Solid computer skills (MS Word & Excel); ability to learn proprietary software required. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings. 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S. Stable work history with good references from past employers. Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check. PSC is a veteran-friendly company. Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus.
