Engineering Manager

to join our growing team in Springfield. Our candidate of choice will manage and lead all efforts of design, methods, and process engineering in support of customer requirements while simultaneously driving cost improvements in labor and material content. Key Responsibilities:

Perform all responsibilities in a way that reinforces our company’s core values. Participate in the development, support, and execution of a company strategic plan. Responsible for all aspects of product development and support as well as manufacturing/industrial engineering. Establish and refine full and complete work packages (prints, BoM’s, routers, work instructions) for all new products. Also, create and update for existing high-running products. Drive margin enhancement through material and process cost reductions. Work in concert with other departments – Sales, Production & Quality – to ensure products & processes are designed as efficiently as possible. Cross-functional design reviews are expected. Develop and maintain all aspects of project schedules. Project management experience required. Improve the operational processes of managed departments. Interface with customers and suppliers as necessary. Manage engineering personnel to ensure that products are manufactured correctly, cost-effectively, and delivered on time to Champion GSE promise dates and quality requirements. Manage engineering personnel to ensure production success towards customer commitments and company cost-out efforts. Manage engineering personnel to maintain and improve facilities and operations. Promote and maintain awareness and compliance of EH&S in accordance with best practice and legal requirements. Administering employee performance reviews. Enforcing and adhering to company policies and procedures per the Quality Management System, Safety Manual, and Employee Handbook. Key Qualifications:

10-12 years of experience minimum in technical supervision, project management, and product development capacity. Familiarity with departmental procedure development beneficial. Familiarity with aerospace standards and expectations beneficial. Familiarity with Military standards and expectations beneficial. Familiarity with European standards and expectations beneficial. Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality systems required. Must be a leader first, a manager second. Knowledge of Quality tools. Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Must possess analytical thinking and reasoning skills. Must be thorough and exercise attention to detail. Must be able to set and maintain schedules. Must be able to mentor manufacturing engineers in lean processes, CNC machining, workflow, work instructions, quotes, routings, and other manufacturing engineering functions.
