Role: Protection and Control Engineer (Remote)

About the Role FindTalent is seeking a
Protection and Control Engineer
to join our team, focusing on designing, analyzing, and implementing protective relay settings for power system equipment within substations. This role is critical in ensuring power system
reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance
through in-depth electrical studies and technical assessments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in
load flow analysis, short-circuit studies, arc flash assessments, grounding design, and relay programming and testing . Projects will primarily focus on
Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage, and stand-alone electrical infrastructure , spanning from initial design through construction and commissioning. This position offers a
hybrid/remote work model
based out of one of the following locations:
Palm Beach Gardens, FL | Tampa, FL | New Orleans, LA | Charlotte, NC . Key Responsibilities Conduct
electrical system studies
including load flow, short-circuit analysis, coordination studies, lightning protection, grounding design, and arc flash assessments. Develop and implement
protective relay settings
to enhance system reliability. Perform
relay programming and testing
to ensure optimal system performance. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to
design and review P&C (Protection & Control) and substation projects . Maintain
compliance with industry standards
(IEEE, NFPA, NEC, NESC) and company policies. Analyze
manufacturer specifications and electrical prints , ensuring accuracy and adherence to design requirements. Prepare and present
detailed technical reports
outlining study findings, recommendations, and compliance measures. Support project teams by ensuring
timely project completion
within budget constraints. Maintain technical records,
progress reports , and compliance documentation. Assist with
troubleshooting and problem resolution
for power system protection issues. Perform other duties as required to support engineering project needs. Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
from an
ABET-accredited
institution. 4 to 8 years
of engineering experience in the
electric utility sector
or consulting industry. Strong understanding of
substation design, power system protection philosophies, and relay settings . Ability to
collaborate
across departments and ensure seamless project execution. Results-driven mindset
with strong
organizational and analytical skills . Willingness to
self-learn
and adapt to new software applications and methodologies. Proficiency in the following software:
Microsoft Office Suite AutoCAD Electrical
(preferred) Bluebeam
(preferred) ARCGIS
(preferred) Power system analysis tools
(e.g., ETAP) Relay setting software
(e.g., AcSELerator) Protective relay testing & commissioning software
(preferred)
Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license
is preferred. Additional Information: General office working conditions with occasional travel for
site visits (up to 10%) . Must possess a
valid driver’s license
and an acceptable
Motor Vehicle Report . May require
work outside of standard hours
