Job Title: Electrical Designer - Heavy Industry/Manufacturing Overview: As an Electrical Designer in a heavy industry or manufacturing facility, you'll play a crucial role in the design and implementation of electrical systems to support the operation of the facility. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that electrical designs meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and operational needs. Your responsibilities will include developing electrical schematics, layouts, and specifications for equipment, power distribution systems, and control systems. Key Responsibilities: Electrical System Design: Designing electrical systems for heavy industrial equipment and machinery, including power distribution systems, control panels, and motor control centers. Schematic Development: Creating detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Equipment Specification: Specifying electrical components, equipment, and materials required for construction and installation of electrical systems. Compliance and Safety: Ensuring that electrical designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, such as NEC, NFPA, and OSHA guidelines. Collaboration: Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical designs with overall project requirements and schedules. Troubleshooting: Providing technical support for troubleshooting electrical issues during construction, commissioning, and operation phases. Documentation: Creating and maintaining documentation related to electrical designs, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Cost Estimation: Assisting in cost estimation and budgeting for electrical components and systems. Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for improving efficiency, reliability, and safety of electrical systems through design optimization and innovation. Project Coordination: Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to procure electrical equipment and ensure timely delivery and installation. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. A relevant associate degree or vocational training with substantial experience may be considered. Experience: Previous experience in electrical design for heavy industry or manufacturing facilities is highly preferred. Experience with CAD software and electrical design tools is essential. Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including power distribution, control systems, and industrial automation. Familiarity with relevant codes and standards is required. Skills: Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD or Revit. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential. Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) license or certification is a plus. Safety Awareness: Demonstrated commitment to safety in design and operations, with knowledge of electrical safety practices and procedures. Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines.
