Weitsman Recycling is looking for a reliable and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to support daily yard operations. This is a hands‑on role operating front‑end loaders, excavators, forklifts, and other heavy machinery to move and process scrap metal safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Strictly follow all company and OSHA safety procedures at all times
• Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings
• Operate various types of equipment to include cranes, loaders, skid steers, forklifts and sweepers, heavy equipment to load, unload, and transport materials throughout the scrap yard
• Perform daily equipment inspections and promptly report any defects, malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as required
• Load and move scrap materials including feeding the shredder conveyor, pushing shred piles and loading trucks and railcars.
• Assist with general yard labor and support tasks including sweeping, shoveling, and equipment and area cleanup throughout the yard.
• Cross train in other roles and assist co-workers as needed to support overall operations
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum of 2 years previous experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial, construction, or recycling setting
• Flexible to work overtime, weekends, holidays in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Familiarity with safety standards and mechanical troubleshooting
• Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus)
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
• Excellent communication and situational awareness skills.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions
