Janitor Position

Join to apply for the Janitor role at Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan's Heartland. Under limited supervision, the janitor will perform cleaning operations assigned by Janitorial Supervisor. This will be carried out to completion using proper materials, equipment, and methods. Some snow removal duties required for this position.

Essential Duties

• Janitorial duties and restroom and locker room cleaning. Floor care including carpet cleaning, mopping, dusting, waste receptacles, toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, walls etc. per contract direction and specifications.
• Follow all policies and procedures outlined by Navigations, Inc. including all related to safety.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of janitorial supply room and closet.
• Immediately notify Supervisor of any concerns regarding safety or damage to premises.
• Report to Supervisor as requested or required.
• Snow removal during nighttime/early morning hours.

Additional Duties

• Clean locker rooms in the HDI Federal Center main facility.
• Perform other related duties and assignments as required or directed by Supervisor.
• At beginning of each shift, walk around facility and identify any issues that need to be brought to the attention of the facility supervisor.
• Provide a list of needed supplies to the Navigations supervisor in a timely manner to ensure needed supplies are available at all times.

• Proper performance of duties related to restroom cleaning as required/outlined in GSA Contract.
• Ability to follow instructions and schedule of work.
• Ability to work independently to complete work assignments as scheduled.
• Maintain appropriate appearance and behavior.
• Timely reporting to work site and excused absenteeism per Navigations, Inc. guidelines only.

Position Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain/maintain background and reference checks in compliance with contract and Navigations requirements. Felony and other convictions that restrict hiring under government guidelines apply to this position.
• Work experience in the janitorial field.
• Ability to work independently and stay on assigned task.
• Ability to perform tasks as listed below.
• Ability to work any shift, and possible weekends.

Physical Requirements

• Indoors.
• Work with tools and equipment commonly used in the janitorial field.
• Lifting (up to 50lbs), twisting, bending, reaching, standing, climbing ladders, extended walking.
• Exposure to chemicals normally used in the performance of duties related to all aspects of restroom cleaning and janitorial services.
• May include exposure to body fluids and blood contamination.
