Accounting Manager
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our accounting department. The role supervises the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, manages month‑end and year‑end close processes, and ensures accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support AP and AR team members to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate processing of financial transactions.
- Oversee all month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations (bank, credit cards, balance sheet accounts), and financial reporting.
- Maintain and improve the chart of accounts to support accurate financial reporting and align with business operations.
- Manage fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules and asset tracking.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, monitor cost updates, and apply proper valuation methods.
- Prepare and submit monthly sales tax filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, budgets, and financial models to aid executive decision‑making.
- Partner with leadership to refine accounting processes, enhance internal controls, and improve financial clarity across departments.
- Support and direct AR team efforts related to past‑due collections and customer follow‑up.
- Oversee the collection and organization of required documentation including W‑9s, tax exemption certificates, and vendor/customer onboarding materials.
- Maintain organized and compliant financial documentation, both digital and physical.
- Play a key role in the transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ensuring continuity in processes and data integrity during the migration.
- Assist with external audits, regulatory filings, and compliance‑related activities.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- In‑depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Enterprise or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting processes including journal entries, reconciliations, budgeting, and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Capable of mentoring and managing accounting staff in a collaborative environment.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience in an accounting setting.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred).
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus, but not required.
Working Conditions
- Full‑time, onsite role.
- Standard schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Office‑based environment with prolonged periods working at a computer.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 15 pounds.
