Overview

We are currently supporting a leading global organisation in their search for an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, ensuring the ongoing protection and resilience of critical systems, data, and networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and upgrade security measures to safeguard data, systems, and networks.
  • Coordinate with vendor technical support to resolve complex issues and assist in planning system upgrades.
  • Assess security advisories and vulnerabilities, developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Advise business teams on best practices for threat mitigation across areas such as Perimeter Security, CASB, Application Security, Core Systems, EDR, Cloud, and SIEM.
  • Implement and manage security tools, including firewalls, VPNs, IPS/IDS, and web proxies.
  • Monitor network traffic and analyse potential security threats.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and security processes.
  • Identify and automate repetitive or time‑consuming processes.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to embed security measures into business operations.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on security assessments and findings.
  • Provide training and guidance on security best practices to technical and non‑technical staff.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 4–8 years’ hands‑on experience in cybersecurity, covering security operations, incident response, and use of security tools.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, security frameworks, IAM, and system administration.
  • Expert understanding of perimeter, endpoint, and cloud security controls.
  • Practical experience with switching, routing, VPN technologies, and wireless networks.
  • Proficiency in SIEM systems, vulnerability scanning tools, EDR solutions, firewalls, antivirus, and DLP.
  • Solid grasp of Windows and UNIX operating systems.
  • Basic scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Up‑to‑date awareness of cybersecurity trends, tools, and emerging threats.
