Hardware Reliability Engineer (Starlink Product)
SpaceX is deploying Starlink, the world’s largest satellite constellation and the most advanced broadband internet system. The Hardware Reliability Team is committed to ensuring the mechanical and electrical hardware that connects customers to the satellites is reliable, durable, and performs consistently in the field.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement reliability test strategies for new products and subcomponents to maximize field life and minimize early‑life failures.
Design and execute novel environmental, RF, mechanical, and electrical testing techniques tailored to product functions.
Write test programs and automate reliability test initiatives, using data visualization to report results.
Define ongoing reliability testing strategies to monitor production and screen for long‑term reliability defects.
Monitor product and process quality through ramp‑up, driving improvements in key quality metrics.
Investigate failures in production and test, identify root causes, and reduce risk through design and process changes.
Coordinate with hardware, software, manufacturing, and network engineering teams to maximize reliability across disciplines.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
At least 1 year of experience in test, analysis, manufacturing, or hardware development (internship and project experience counts).
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience with electronics and mechanical design and analysis, including RF principles.
Programming experience in Python, C, and SQL focused on data analysis and automation.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems independently and on schedule.
Experience in fast‑paced, iterative design environments common to consumer electronics, mobile handsets, medical devices, aerospace, marine, or automotive industries.
Additional Requirements
Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and off‑site as needed.
Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs unassisted.
Must be willing to work onsite; remote work is not considered.
