Position overview
The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train. The RTE’s major responsibilities include facilitating ART events, supporting PI execution, optimizing flow, coaching the ART, ensuring value delivery, communicating with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners and other stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution alignment, managing risks, removing/escalating impediments, and managing cross‑train dependencies. The RTE is responsible for promoting execution alignment and visibility, driving process improvements, and managing ART KPIs. This role will be the RTE for Digital Marketing, with management responsibilities for the Scrum Masters on the ART.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead Scrum and/or Kanban teams in PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and other Agile ceremonies.
Deliver results in terms of predictability, productivity, schedule, and quality.
Ensure data maintained in Agile tools is consistent across ARTs.
Oversee budgeting and oversight of capital and non‑capital expenditure within the ART.
Ensure compliance with Truist Agile SDLC, Agile Operating Framework and Risk Framework.
Active participant with the Truist Agile Guild and Agile RTE Communities of Practice.
Coordinate with other Release Train Engineers for cross‑ART dependencies and road map reviews.
Work with Scrum or Kanban masters in a consultant model to help teams embrace an agile mindset.
Listen intently to others and strive to understand and empathize.
Apply effective Agile principles and practices, embracing adaptive coaching.
Create an environment of mutual influence.
Manage and coach Scrum Masters.
Qualifications
College degree or related education and experience.
Minimum of five years program management experience and/or five years experience as a Scrum Master, including experience with PI Planning and Execution.
SAFe Agilist certification and strong knowledge of Agile concepts.
Strong communication and organizational change management experience.
Experience in delivery functions at large organizations or Fortune 500 companies.
SAFe RTE certification.
Preferred Qualifications
SPC6.
RTE on a Solution Train, change leader.
Experience in banking or financial services industry.
Demonstrated people management experience.
Experience working with co‑located and offshore teams.
Facilitating value stream mapping workshops.
Delivered Agile training.
Experience leading Agile Release Trains in digital or marketing‑technology organizations.
