Early Career Geotechnical Engineer

in our

Davis, Oakland, Walnut Creek, Los Angeles, CA, Broomfield, CO, and Seattle, WA

offices. The position will allow you to apply academic knowledge to real‑world projects involving site characterization, design and construction, earth retaining structures, deep and soft/weak foundations, dams and water containment structures, forensic investigations and litigation support, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, numerical analysis of stability and deformation, and geohazard / earthquake characterization / mitigation, while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Location: Primary – Davis, CA. Additional locations – Oakland, Walnut Creek, Los Angeles, CA; Broomfield, CO; Seattle, WA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conducting geotechnical field investigations

Monitoring heavy civil construction projects

Performing and reviewing engineering calculations

Earthquake engineering

Dam and levee evaluations, design, and permitting

Developing construction documents

Writing and reviewing engineering reports

Driving personal and company vehicles to client or project sites as needed

Education and Licensure

Bachelor's degree in civil and/or environmental engineering (required)

Advanced degree in the same field (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

At least 2 years of work experience in engineering consulting or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)

Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting (preferred)

Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, and PLAXIS (preferred)

Regular field work and overnight travel (required)

Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client‑driven drug and background testing (required)

Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)

Candidates must currently hold and maintain valid U.S. work authorization. New H‑1B visa lottery and employment‑based green card sponsorship are not available for this position.

Compensation

Minimum Salary: $64,485/year / Maximum Salary: $80,605/year (Broomfield, CO)

Minimum Salary: $70,625/year / Maximum Salary: $88,280/year (Davis, Oakland, Walnut Creek, Los Angeles, CA)

Minimum: $32.47/hour / Maximum: $37.48/hour or Minimum: $77,968.80/year / Maximum: $84,445/year (Seattle, WA)
