Senior Living Recruiter - Talent Management - Marketing and Branding Title : Senior Accountant
Reports to : Corporate Controller
Location : In-Office | Chicago, IL (Up to 20% travel to California)

POSITION SUMMARY The
Senior Accountant
plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records and reports. This role is responsible for overseeing complex accounting tasks, supporting the month‑end close process, preparing financial statements, and mentoring junior accounting staff. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting knowledge, thrives in a fast‑paced and growing environment, and demonstrates both strategic thinking and hands‑on execution.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Prepare, review, and post journal entries and general ledger reconciliations across multiple entities
Analyze financial data and generate internal reports to support business decision‑making
Maintain and manage the fixed asset ledger, including capital project tracking, depreciation, and disposals
Support preparation of consolidated financial statements and related financial disclosures
Coordinate and support external audit requests and other financial reviews
Partner with operational teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and intercompany accounting
Identify areas for process improvement and assist in developing enhanced financial workflows and controls
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies
Train and support Staff Accountants and other team members as needed
Participate in ad‑hoc financial analysis and strategic projects
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CPA‑track preferred)
Experience in public accounting or working for a public company preferred
4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a multi‑entity or healthcare‑related organization
Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and strong understanding of full‑cycle accounting
Experience with lease accounting, fixed asset accounting, intercompany transactions, and financial statement preparation
Experience with conducting internal control assessments and driving process improvements/streamlining
Strong proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and present insights effectively
High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
An understanding of KPIs, the ability to analyze data and identify/present trends
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, all while supporting junior staff to ensure deadlines are met
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills
Prior experience mentoring or supporting junior staff is required
WORK ENVIRONMENT & WHAT WE OFFER
Traditional 5 day a week on‑site office setting in Chicago, regular business hours, and quarterly travel to CA is required
Occasional extended hours during peak financial periods such as month‑end close and audit.
