Overview Scion Staffing has been engaged to lead the search for a
Vice President of Asset Management
on behalf of our client, a mission-driven affordable housing organization committed to preserving and expanding access to affordable homes across the Bay Area.
This is a
strategic leadership opportunity
for a proven asset management professional to oversee a diverse affordable housing portfolio, guide long‑term financial and operational performance, and lead a talented team of asset and facilities managers. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in affordable housing asset management—ideally with familiarity in San Francisco housing programs—and a demonstrated record of leadership, collaboration, and financial acumen.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement long-term asset management strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Oversee third‑party property management firms, ensuring regulatory and financial compliance.
Analyze property financials, budgets, and performance metrics to inform strategic decisions.
Identify and prioritize capital improvement and rehabilitation projects across the portfolio.
Manage LIHTC (Low‑Income Housing Tax Credit) compliance, financial reporting, and partnership exit strategies.
Supervise the asset management and facilities teams, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
Partner closely with finance, development, and resident services departments to advance portfolio performance.
Lead due diligence for acquisitions, monitor insurance coverage, and oversee commercial leasing activities.
Represent the organization in meetings with lenders, investors, community partners, and public agencies.
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in affordable housing asset management.
Proven supervisory and leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
Strong understanding of LIHTC, affordable housing finance, and San Francisco housing regulations.
Experience managing budgets, capital planning, and third‑party property management relationships.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, or related field required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general financial modeling.
Ability to interpret legal and regulatory documents and communicate findings effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and collaboration.
Must be willing and able to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area within 60–90 days of hire.
This position offers an annual salary between $190,000 (DOE), plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and generous paid time off.
