Director of Plant Design and Construction Engineering

Base pay range: $170,000 / yr – $250,000 / yr. Salary will vary by level, location, qualifications and experience. Equity and benefits are also included.
Responsibilities
Lead the CFS Plant Design and Construction Engineering team.
Hire, develop, and retain outstanding plant design and construction engineers.
Work cross‑functionally with project leaders to understand process system needs.
Plan, organize, and manage the team's work.
Create metrics and delivery goals for the team.
Establish best practices, workflows, and standards for plant design and construction (system design, layout, 2D/3D modeling, translation to construction work products).
Set clear design and construction standards aligned with project needs.
Ensure released P&IDs, drawings, models, and construction work packages are correct and of high quality.
Drive the team to meet deadlines.
Provide guidance to ensure operational and technical excellence.
Collaborate with other engineering team leaders to resolve technical issues.
Drive continuous improvement across plant design and construction.
Review and provide input on execution partner selection (architect/engineer, construction management companies).
Develop and maintain corporate staffing curves for all CFS projects.
Work with other discipline directors to ensure efficient interfaces and workflows.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
15+ years of experience in design and construction of process plants.
Experience with P&IDs, 3D modeling software, and plant and process systems.
10+ years supervising at least 10 employees.
Experience designing, constructing, and operating plants with complex process systems under extreme or hazardous conditions.
Ability to develop and manage design procedures.
Familiarity with ASME B31.1, B31.3 and BPVC Section VIII Div. 1 codes.
Experience with CAD toolsets such as AVEVA, NX, Creo, SolidWorks, etc.
Strong communication skills and the ability to critique ideas clearly.
Attention to detail and emphasis on elegant, simple solutions.
Drive toward commercially viable solutions.
Values aligning with integrity, execution, impact, and self‑critique.
Experience working with construction management companies and subcontractors on large‑scale industrial facilities.
Experience with construction change‑control methods.
Experience managing non‑centralized teams across multiple geographic locations.

Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods.
Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenics.
Willingness to travel and work required nights, weekends, and occasional on‑call shifts.
