For more information, please visit HiArc . The Engineering Technician provides support for engineering design and development activities, and/or support for manufacturing activities. For these activities, the Engineering Technician provides technical assistance with the design, development, construction, and testing of developmental prototype products; transition of pilot products to manufacturing; general electro/mechanical activities; test systems documentation, design, development and execution; and general research design, development and testing activities. The Engineering Technician works closely with members of an engineering project team and a Senior Engineering Technician. The Engineering Technician accepts direction and instructions, and works with project team members, and/or manufacturing personnel on engineering change orders. Responsibilities: Provide technical assistance in the design, development, testing, and modification of engineering prototypes. Develop, construct, and modify electrical/electronic circuits, mechanical, and electro‑mechanical designs utilizing known design concepts. Evaluate and test designs for specified performance. Work closely with electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineering to build, test, and troubleshoot systems; do parts ordering and tracking; to modify, manipulate, and configure test setups; in support of engineering prototyping. Execute software scripts to ensure proper function of system sub‑assemblies that may include software, electronics, and mechanical components. Determine appropriate materials and processes for preparing technical instructions and collaborate with other technical personnel. Conduct experiments, with supervision, to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes. Assist in the planning, testing, and evaluation of laboratory equipment, and new and existing materials and techniques. Exercise specialized technical judgment in the substitution of parts and materials. Evaluate and select optimum alternatives. Maintain effective liaison with all interfacing departments to assist engineering in transition from development into production. Use engineering drawings and take direction to construct, modify, and support the engineering of various tooling fixtures necessary for the assembly of devices/instruments that are in prototype or production build and/or test. Assure compliance of test equipment’s maintenance and calibration documentation. Compile, compute, analyze, and present a variety of engineering data as required. Review designs and specifications for completeness, accuracy, adequacy, and compliance with company and customer requirements. Specify, design, document, order, and test cabling assemblies. Support outside agency and/or internal qualification, verification, and validation testing as needed per product. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications : Requires an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or similar field and 2-4 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
