Overview
Life Science Research Professional 1 – Xiao Lab (Onsite Work Agreement). The Xiao Laboratory is part of the Stanford Biochemistry and Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI). We are a chemical systems biology group focused on developing mass spectrometry (MS)-based strategies, combined with data science, to understand mechanisms of metabolic regulation over protein function in health and disease. SCI is an elite National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and a dynamic Institute within the Stanford University School of Medicine, employing a broad community of faculty and staff across multiple schools and departments with opportunities for growth. You will join a newly-established group and perform experiments, data analysis, and contribute to publications. The successful candidate will conduct molecular biology experiments involving genetic and pharmacological interventions in cells, with potential to perform animal experiments, proteomics, metabolomics, and computational analyses. You will work directly with the principal investigator and lab members in a collaborative environment. We value excellent organizational and communication skills, professionalism, initiative, and flexibility, and alignment with the Institute’s goals and priorities. Duties
Plan and perform experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory. Interpret and perform basic analyses of results. Review literature to stay current with new procedures and related research. Offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with graduate and post-doctoral individuals. Maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. Contribute to publication of findings as needed and assist in preparing procedures, presentations, and proposals.
