Consultant Paediatrician with interest in Neurodisability The closing date is 30 October 2025

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Pediatrician with interest in neurodisability.

Please note this is a 7 PA (7 sessions per week) post.

Please note interviews are face to face.

Main duties of the job

Complete medical and developmental assessments of children referred to the Child Development Service and reviews of these children as necessary

Lead the Spina bifida and hydrocephalus team including monthly multidisciplinary clinics, close liaison and twice-yearly multidisciplinary meetings with Leeds urologists and clinical management of around 50 children with spina bifida

Act as one of three locally based medical advisors to One Adoption West Yorkshire, including carrying out around 90 adoption medicals per year, meeting 15 sets of prospective adoptive parents and advising on adult adopter GP medicals

Contribute to Educational Health Care plans as required

To participate in multi-disciplinary autism assessments and lead as required

To cover CDC colleagues in the event of sickness or to help if the workload dictates

To maintain and contribute to holistic and multi-disciplinary care for all children

To participate in fortnightly Child Development Service Educational Meetings

To attend monthly Child Development Service Management Team meetings

To participate in the rota for cover of acute queries from families and MDT.

Person Specification Experience

Experience in management of children with developmental problems and neurodisability

Experience in assessment and management of children with autistic spectrum disorders

Clinical governance / audit experience

Working within a multidisciplinary team and multi‑agency liaison

Assessment and multidisciplinary management of children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus

Skills

Competent in assessing Child Development e.g. using Schedule of Growing Skills or similar tool.

Good communication and organisational skills

Competent with IT

Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary and multi‑organisational basis

Teaching and management skills

Knowledge

Relevant up‑to‑date clinical knowledge and training in Community Paediatrics

Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality

Understanding and knowledge of requirements of service for 'Children Looked After' and children being placed for Adoption

Qualifications

MBChB or equivalent medical qualification

On Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practise

MRCPCH or equivalent

Paediatric CCT or equivalent, or within 6 months of AAC date.
