Job Description IBEW Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.

This occupation requires repair, installation and maintenance of plant electrical systems and equipment and the operation of an automated facility via computer controls.

Responsibilities Determine routing, location and methods of installing wires, conduits, electrical equipment, fixtures and accessories, following trade practice, blueprints, wiring diagrams and applicable state, municipal and underwriters' specifications, codes and ordinances. Determine need for repair or replacement, best and safest method of restoring interrupted service. Compute wire gauge, power and load limit requirements when required.

Perform construction and maintenance operations such as installing and maintaining large motors, transformer banks, welding generators, panels and switchboards. Repair and installation work such as splicing, tapping and insulating high voltage wire and troubleshoot on hot circuits.

Maintain electrical systems and accessories on plant machines and equipment; determine by inspection the electrical repair, replacement and maintenance operations necessary to maintain in efficient operation condition all types of overhead crane and hoist equipment. Make emergency repairs as needed.

Rebuild and rewind motors, generators, transformers, and similar electrical equipment. Diagnose trouble and determine method of repair and replacement units required. Replace parts and units as necessary, reassemble equipment and test for conformance to specifications.

Perform mechanical operations necessary to dismantle, disassemble, repair and install electrical units.

Must possess license/certificate as required by law. Perform any function of the Maintenance Electrician when assigned.

Materials, Tools & Equipment

Electric motors, generators, transformers, switchboards, controls and other electrical equipment.

Wire, tape, solder, conduit, insulators, fuses, switches, relays, screws, bolts, lubricants, insulating varnishes, lighting fixtures, and other electrical repair and replacement parts and supplies.

Electricians' hand tools, soldering irons, wire strippers, blow torch, chain tongs, wire pullers, hickeys; wire gauges, measuring instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, watt meters, ohmmeters, Wheatstone bridges, program logic controls.

Power tools such as drill presses, hack saws, pipe benders and threaders; soldering furnaces, coil winding machines; block and tackle, scaffolding, ladders, safety belts.

Qualifications

4‑year apprenticeship through IBEW or equivalent.

Knowledge to interpret/read electrical schematic drawings.

Excellent troubleshooting skills.

Knowledge of automated facility controls and ability to operate an automated facility using computer equipment, monitoring, adjusting settings and recognizing and responding to alarm conditions.

Use of electricians’ hand tools and electrical testing and measuring instruments.

Use of electrical shop power tools, equipment and accessories.

Use of electrical handbooks and charts.

Knowledge of electrical maintenance theory, practice, procedure, codes and ordinances.

Ability to read and interpret complex wiring and circuit diagrams, installation and construction blueprints.

Mathematics involving algebra.

U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance.

Desired Skills Medium voltage and/or substation experience desired.

Work experience on electrical motors, transformers, switchboards, controls and electrical high voltage equipment; use of power tools such as drill presses, hack saws, pipe benders and threaders; ladders, safety belts; OJT on PALDs, forklift, walk behind lifts, scissor lifts, JLG lifts and working at heights.

Security Clearance Top Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years.

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Schedule 9×80 every other Friday off.

Work Conditions Onsite Full‑time: The work will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Schedule: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility. Schedules range from standard 40‑hour over a five‑day work week while others may be condensed.

Base range for this position in California is $45.79–$63.46.
