Field Service Technician (Cooling/HVAC Data Center) – Piscataway, NJ

Piscataway, New Jersey
Job Summary This position will provide onsite technical services to customers in support of mission‑critical cooling systems. The technician will install, start up, commission, and troubleshoot electro‑mechanical systems, and perform preventive maintenance and break‑fix services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in system deployment projects, delivering installation, startup, and commissioning services.
Assist in fault isolation of electro‑mechanical systems and diagnose equipment failures.
Identify necessary parts to resolve customer equipment failures.
Respond onsite to dispatches within required timeframes as specified in SLAs.
Contribute to the development of service bulletins, procedures, process improvements, and other collateral duties.
Maintain accurate customer service records and reports within the Case Management System/CRM.
Contribute to the creation of knowledge articles and other technical documentation.
Serve as a resource to sales personnel for assigned service area.
Recommend improvements to manuals, operational processes, and procedures as needed.
Develop training course content and provide training to customers and other field service personnel.
Maintain knowledge of new products.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Required Skills Education:
High School/GED required. Associate degree or relevant technical certificate preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience in field service or similar technical support role. Prior experience in data center environments is preferred.
Skills:
Proven experience in maintenance and facilities management; strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems; ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints; proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; experience with preventive maintenance of production equipment; excellent customer service, communication, and problem‑solving skills; ability to travel up to 20% of the time; availability for extended hours and 24/7 on‑call rotation.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing, lifting (up to 75 pounds), bending, kneeling, and other physical tasks.
Travel up to approximately 20% of the time.
