Responsibilities / Qualifications The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this job but are not intended to be all inclusive.

Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.

Diagnose, perform surgery, and treat patients.

Maintain excellent client communication.

Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and information.

Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.

Call clients for follow up and to discuss results.

Set standards of care/protocols for medical and surgical areas.

Maintain practice growth and review financial reports.

Communicate clearly and accurately through written and verbal interactions.

Work in collaboration with practice manager for administrative management.

Deal with clients in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.

Mentor team members in the training program for career advancement and personal development towards goals.

Provide feedback and changes to the training program.

Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows well.

Provide input to the hospital manager for 360‑degree employee performance evaluations.

Additional Functions:

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ability to lead and establish a vision for the practice team.

Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.

Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from lab, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills.

Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and handle a fast‑paced environment.

Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.

Ability to give SQ, IM and IV injections.

Knowledge of dosage, common side‑effects for prescription drugs and ability to explain them to clients.

Knowledge of anesthesia and recovery states and ability to alert veterinarians when symptoms change or when concerns arise with hospitalized patients.

Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature and recover a patient from anesthesia.

Strong reasoning, remembering, mathematics, language, reading, writing, and speaking ability in English.

Proficiency in the use of practice management software.

Required Education and Experience

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university prior to position start date.

Licensure must be in good standing to practice in the state.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, and manipulate up to 50 pounds (with a coworker).

Endure sitting, standing, and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods.

Perform duties while in a hospital environment.

Work in noisy conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high.

Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.

Good hearing, vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception), and ability to focus.

Good hand‑eye coordination, arm‑hand‑fingertips dexterity, and ability to use a keyboard and equipment.
